Removing a dent from your car can be one of the most daunting Charlotte Toyota auto repairs. Especially if it’s a dent from getting your car dinged in the parking lot. (That’s why we recommend performing a daily Charlotte Toyota car maintenance check.) However, you’ll b happy to know that you can remove a dent all by yourself! All it requires is a little elbow grease and DIY tips. Let’s dive in!
Plunger to the rescue to remove a dent
Tip #1 The plunger makes its debut.
Who would have thought that a handy dandy plunger can be used to remove a dent from a Toyota car? Well, it can! Just be sure to purchase a cup plunger instead of a flange plunger. However, don’t get too rough with this, because you might need to select a different method.
Tip #2 Boiling water.
Using boiling water to remove a dent can push the bumper out. Since most bumpers are made out of plastic, it makes them more pliable. If you have any questions on what protective wear to sue when doing this, then just contact our Charlotte Toyota auto service technicians!
Tip #3 Dry ice.
Toyota of N Charlotte recommends using dry ice for a dent in your car, too! Just be sure to wear gloves when using this, because dry ice can burn your hand. Just apply the dry ice to the dent and wait until the dent pops out on its own.
Tip #4 Hair dryer.
Another tip Toyota of N Charlotte recommends is to take a hair dryer, put it on the highest heat, and blow away at your Toyota car. This should create a combination of hot and cold air to make the dent pop out.
Tip #5 Hot glue, wooden dowel, and screws.
This method will require some tools, so make sure you pick these tools up before you begin! Go ahead and take the wooden dowel and place the screws on them. Then, use the hot glue to make them stay in place. After it’s dried, you can try to pry it off and physically pop the dent out. However, be sure not to be too rough so you don’t mess up your paint.
Tip #6 Long metal rod and knockdown.
This method is for some serious dents on your car. Take a metal rod to the inside of the body of your car and start using that elbow grease to remove the dent.
Tip #7 Special tool kit.
If all else fails to remove a dent, then purchase a tool kit from our Charlotte Toyota auto parts store! Our auto service technicians can help you pick the right tool kit for you!
