Getting into a car accident anytime during the week is super annoying and something that nobody wants to deal with. Even if you’re a defensive driver, this can still happen. What’s worse, is when the other driver doesn’t want to accept fault! That’s why it’s super important to follow these helpful steps that Toyota of N Charlotte has prepared. Plus, you can always visit the Charlotte Toyota Collision Center if you need any auto parts or an auto repair. Let’s dive in!
Steps to take after a car accident
#1 Get all of the information.
First things first, is to get all of the information from the other party. You’ll want to write down everyone’s name, contact information, vehicle information (make, year, and model), and car insurance information. Toyota of N Charlotte also recommends having a police report of the car accident. This will help cover your basis if the other person denies fault.
#2 File a claim with car insurance.
After you’ve gathered all of the information from the car accident, then you’ll want to file a claim. If the car accident was your fault, then you’ll need to file a claim with your insurance. However, if the car accident was the other person’s fault, then you’ll need to contact their insurance provider. Toyota of N Charlotte recommends doing this ASAP!
#3 Select a repair shop.
The next step that Toyota of N Charlotte recommends is to find a reputable repair shop (or the Toyota of N Charlotte Collision Center). At our Collision Center, you’ll have Toyota parts in your car with no questions asked!
#4 Ask about your deductible and rental car coverage.
Next, you’ll want to double-check if you have to pay a deductible. That way you can be prepared for the potential expense. Toyota of N Charlotte also suggests having your rental car lined up and ready to rock when you drop your car off for auto repairs.
#5 Have an estimate.
After a car accident, your insurance provider (or the other drivers) will access the damages to your Toyota car. On the other hand, you might be asked to take pictures of the damage yourself. You’ll either receive a check for the damages or you can bring it on in to our Collision Center to get fixed up!
#6 Talk with the repair shop.
After you’ve completed all of these steps, then you’re finally ready to talk with the auto repair shop! You should discuss the price, what they plan on doing to your car, and how long it’ll take to have everything completed. Our Collision Center experts are amazing at getting your car back to working order!
