DIY Car Detailing Supplies

Treating your N Charlotte Toyota like royalty truly comes with remarkable advantages. It keeps the resale value at a reasonable rate, it brings longevity to your vehicle, and you’ll look slick in the driver’s seat. There are individuals that are extra when it comes to car detailing. They’ll spend all morning and/or afternoon deep cleaning their “metal baby” to make it shine inside and out. The only issue with this is that not everyone may have the time to spend hours on car detailing or the money to be sending it every month. This is why here at Toyota of N Charlotte, we have a couple of suggestions on what use to detail your car when on a budget! Take a look!

If you don’t know where to start, don’t worry, we gotchu! Start off with the interior. After you pick up your trash, shoes, clothes, and organize important documents in your glove compartment, you’ve commenced your car detailing journey. Here are a couple of more affordable pro tips that we highly suggest at Toyota of N Charlotte:

Interior

Fabric Car Seats

These seats can get pretty stubborn stains—especially if you have small children or dogs, no offense to your precious cargo! At Toyota of N Charlotte we recommend to start off by missing dish soap and water to take away the stain. If it’s more rough than anticipated, then use some baking soda to help power it out (1/4 cup baking soda and 1 cup warm water—as the recipe calls for). Club soda is also another great ingredient to use.

Hard Surfaces

Conditioning liquid and specialty sprays can get expensive, so another household item you can use is olive oil and a microfiber cloth! Just apply a bit of the oil onto the cloth and wipe down the hard surfaces like the dashboard, steering wheel, and other high touch points. This will both dust the surfaces AND make it shiny! Don’t forget to let it dry before using it, or else you’ll have a couple of slippery situations.

Interior Odors

Did you know that charcoal is a natural deodorizer? You can put it in a small bag and place it under your seats to get rid of foul odors. Other household items you can use are dryer sheets, and scented baking soda. Just don’t forget to vacuum out the baking soda.

Exterior

Once you do all of the above in your car detailing procedure, it’s time to move on out! It may seem easy to wash the whole body of your N Charlotte Toyota, but it does get challenging when trying to get every nook and cranny. With this we give you enlightenment on cleaning your exterior:

Body

DO NOT use dish soap for your vehicle’s exterior. While it helps with your seats, it can actually cause serious damage to you car’s paint. Instead mix warm water with hair conditioner and voila, you have your own DIY car soap.

Windows

Avoid ammonia based cleaners for your windows. As a replacement you can use a mix of vinegar and warm water. It’ll wipe away the dirt, dust, and dead insects from your windows. Doing this is cost effective AND doesn’t mess up your tints.

If you want to pamper your car once in a while, then don’t be shy, bring it in to Toyota of N Charlotte to get it professionally detailed. We’re located at 13429 Statesville Rd just off I-77 at exit 23 in Huntersville.
